About the Kansas City Blazers
The Kansas City Blazers swim team was established in 1975 as a department within Johnson County Parks and Recreation District (JCPRD). Through our COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE, we are a USA Swimming Level IV Club, the premier team in the region for over 49 years, and have six Olympic representatives.

The Kansas City Blazers are committed to excellence and dedicated to developing individuals and community in a supportive and nurturing environment.
As such, the program provides the following:

The Kansas City Blazers provides a dynamic competitive swimming program for novice to elite swimmers.
We have six Blazers who have competed in the Olympic Games:
Nadia Krüger - 1984 Los Angeles Olympics - 800m Free (16th Place), 400m Free (18th Place)
Mark Dean - 1988 Seoul Olympics - 200m Fly (9th Place)
Janie (Elizabeth) Wagstaff - 1992 Barcelona Olympics - 100m Back (Bronze), 200m Back (Bronze), 200 Medley Relay (Gold)
Catherine Fox - 1996 Atlanta Olympics - 400m Free Relay (Gold), 400m Medley Relay (Gold)
Scott Goldblatt - 2004 Athens Olympics - 800m Free Relay (Gold) + 2000 Sydney Olympics - 200m Free (9th Place), 800m Free Relay (Silver)
Shannon Vreeland - 2012 London Olympics - 800m Free Relay (Gold)
